The Academic Advising Center was established to provide advising support services to students that encourage success, independence and completion of an academic plan that incorporate students’ goals and interests.
Advising Center Policies and Procedures
- Advising appointments are required for semester and long term course planning, discussing or changing a major or minor along with extended discussion of these or other advising questions.
- Students should check-in for their advising appointment in Hardaway Hall 290. Advisers will be notified and will escort students to their office at that time. Students should come to appointments prepared with a tentative list of courses as well as any questions about the current or upcoming semester.
- Those who arrive 10 minutes after a scheduled appointment time will be required to re-schedule to another day.
- Appointments can be canceled through the online system. This is a common courtesy and allows other students to schedule that appointment slot.
- Email is a great way to communicate with advisers if a face-to-face meeting is not possible for quick questions and concerns. Email is answered within five business days. Emails can be sent to coeadvising@ua.edu.
- The Academic Advising Center is closed between noon and 1 p.m. each day.
